Rare earth market update on June 12, 2026
This week, the price trends of mainstream light and heavy rare earth products have diverged: praseodymium-neodymium prices continued to decline, while dysprosium-terbium prices fluctuated upward. In the light rare earth market, as magnetic material companies mainly purchase on demand and terminal demand transmits slowly upstream, praseodymium-neodymium suppliers generally maintain rational quotations. In the medium and heavy rare earth market, affected by increased willingness of downstream restocking, limited imports of Burmese ores, continuous expansion of rare earth application scenarios, and the long-term horizontal movement of dysprosium-terbium prices, most stockholders are reluctant to sell and maintain high pricing sentiment.
According to CTIA GROUP statistics, this week, the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide decreased by RMB 9,000/ton, a decrease of 1.29%; praseodymium-neodymium metal decreased by RMB 15,000/ton, a decrease of 1.75%; terbium oxide increased by RMB 60,000/ton, an increase of 0.98%; dysprosium oxide increased by RMB 10,000/ton, an increase of 0.75%; the prices of 55N NdFeB blanks and NdFeB scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) showed no significant changes.
According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, in May 2026, the nationwide producer price index for industrial products increased by 3.9% year-on-year and increased by 0.5% month-on-month; the purchasing price index for industrial products increased by 5.8% year-on-year and increased by 1.3% month-on-month. On a year-on-year basis, in the producer prices of industrial products, the prices of mining industry increased by 15.8%, raw material industry increased by 9.2%, and processing industry increased by 2.3%; in the purchasing prices of industrial products, the prices of non-ferrous metal materials and wires increased by 22.0%, chemical raw materials increased by 11.8%, fuel and power increased by 10.0%, and ferrous metal materials increased by 0.3%.
