Rare earth market update on June 17, 2026
The domestic rare earth market as a whole showed a general upward trend, among which, the prices of praseodymium-neodymium oxide, terbium oxide and dysprosium oxide increased by approximately RMB 15,000/ton, RMB 130,000/ton and RMB 10,000/ton respectively. In the light rare earth market, although downstream demand is still below expectations, influenced by the continuous warming of the medium and heavy rare earth market and the good development trend of the downstream rare earth industry, suppliers have generally raised their quotations.
In the medium and heavy rare earth market, under the influence of factors such as frequent hot and rainy weather recently, stricter environmental protection and anti-smuggling policies, and high energy prices, the output of some rare earth manufacturers has been reduced. In addition, the limited import volume of China's medium and heavy rare earth products and the fact that many industry players are optimistic about the future market of dysprosium oxide have further strengthened the willingness of holders to raise prices.
News aspect: Data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in May, the value-added of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 4.5% year-on-year in real terms, and increased by 0.40% month-on-month. By the three major categories, in May, the value-added of the mining industry increased by 2.3% year-on-year, the manufacturing industry increased by 4.4%, and the production and supply industry of electricity, heat, gas and water increased by 7.6%.
